With over 30 years in the outdoor industry, BD has extensive experience guiding and facilitating group experiences in such activities as rock & ice climbing, expedition rafting, whitewater kayaking and pack rafting, mountain biking & bikepacking, backcountry skiing & avalanche education, canyoneering, backpacking, international travel, and team building initiatives. He holds current certifications from Wilderness Medical Associates (WFR), the American Canoe Association (Instructor Trainer in both whitewater kayaking and pack rafting) and the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (Instructor).

BD thrives in moving through remote and rugged landscapes. Throughout his life he has steadily built his skillsets with the goal of venturing into the unknown with confidence and competence to overcome what the terrain, elements, and circumstance present. From biking and pack rafting across Alaska’s Brooks Range (recognized as the 2015 Most Daring Trip of the year by Bikepacking.com) to climbing and skiing every peak in his backyard in a single push, BD is an orchestrator of creative and extensive human powered adventures.

Additionally, he is an accomplished speaker, writer and photographer. His written and photography work has been featured in numerous publications and on-line journals from Bedrock Bags, Bikepacking Journal, Hyperlite Mountain Gear, Osprey, Salsa Cycles, Sidetracked, and more. He has been a featured speaker for Salsa Cycles, Colorado Trail’s Day, Los Alamos National Laboratories, as well as for various community and school groups across the country. His presentations are meant to entertain and inspire his audience through creative story telling and stunning images. Samples of his work are available upon request.

Most recently, BD has delved into the world of film, working on a conservation project to protect the lower canyons of the Dolores River; a film featuring him biking to ski the mountains of his backyard; and his most recent project to follow the ghost of famed outlaw Butch Cassidy across the American West. These projects have been recognized and accepted into film festivals across the globe.
